  • So longevity shouldn't be the first priority when selecting a string. That shouldn't be the driver to switch to poly. Moving to a soft poly will actually require you to string just as frequently because of de-tensioning and the poly going dead. If your jr is breaking strings, then you may need to accept that you have to re-string more frequently.

  • Poly strings are stiffer, low powered and are prone to a lot of tension loss. Co-Poly strings have "added ingredients" which allow the string to be more elastic. when compared to normal poly strings, they are softer, higher powered and show very good tension stability. edit: i took to long to reply. oops.

  • I used the word "poly" in the post you quoted instead of using the correct term "co-poly". I do have 20+ reels of co-polys in stock, including four reels of Tier One strings. But even the message board you are posting on, Tennis Warehouse, refers to co-poly strings as polys, just like I did.

  • Way too low for gut. String it at 58-60. It'll still be more arm friendly than poly and have much better control than at 54. 54 is good for syn guts and muted multis like Rip Control and Velocity. Strings like Origin and Nat gut need a higher tension. Poly's all need to be strung in the 40's IMO.

  • DanF1961 said: Volkl Cyclone Tour is very soft for a poly, but I found Ytex strings to be more comfortable than VCT. A lot of people like Ytex Quadro Twist. I didn't like it {to springy} but it was very comfortable. The string I like is Ytex Square X. The black is softer than the white.

  • TennisCJC. Legend. Oct 4, 2011. #11. There is a growing consensus that polys are best in the 40-52 range but plenty of exceptions. Nadal strings in the low-to-mid 50s, Agassi strung around 60 and so does Blake. There was an Italian top 100 pro who strung all poly around 25 lbs. So, there are exceptions at both ends of the spectrum.
